Lanzarote

just arrived in Lanzarote, first look at the sea outside the hotel. amazing volcanic cliffs dropping into crystal clear turquoise waters, and Im already plotting the goat tracks down to the waves for a snorkel. cant wait.	smooth volcanic boulders litter the beach	long exposure of the waves lapping the volcanic rocks	weird bubble like quartz crystals in many of the rocks
cove outside the hotel, good spot to get in	previous starters	bubbles in ice in coke in glass in restaurant in lanzarote	the friendly cat that hung out outside our room, lovely colours	view from the hotel balcony, with weird clouds
one of the best desserts, we spent as much on food as the rest of the holiday and it was very tasty.	us making like cheese	fish	underwater cliff dropping 10m or so to the seabed, an extension of the cliffs above.	fish
more fish, just hanging out on the rock shelf	found my first lanzarotian ockie, only small, but perfectly camouflaged, was totally amazed how well it was blending into the background rocks, not sure how i spotted it.	lots of cool spotted sea cucumbers	lots of underwater larva ridges, like manmade walls	strange hairy crab, very tame
not content with just releasing we take it into our heads to cycle to papagayo or Papiagiago (as stu prefers to call it)	papagayo beach	weird rocks sticking out of the rocks	cliffs near hotel	view of the marina rubicon as we snack one evening

jules boldly goes where only a few tourists have gone before	idyllic cove at papagayo	bear at the cafe at the end of the world, after walking all morning we finally find the perfect little cliff top cafe with the most fantastic views over secluded little coves	us making more cheese	mmm, little did i know that in 2 days tie i would be swimming through an underwater tunnel down there.

jules in her own little world	local catching tea	inside the converted salt sore restaurant, first time was very good, second time we walked out after 15 minutes of no service. C est la vi		wheres my soup?

	smashing	now these were a good discovery, weird thin legged crabs with long poinged noses, almost shrimp like.	one of the very few starfish	fish
snorkeler	just in case you though it was, its not easy taking photos of yourself underwater. of about 25 shots only 1 worked.	cutest little fish in the ocean	best chocolate and banana crepe cafe on playa blanca, not bad coffee too.
rather than just relaxing by the pool and abusing the bar, we decide to clime el rock	the only thing growing up there.	jules summits the volcano and surveys fuertaventura in the distance.	playa blanca, with grand melia volcan and papagayo in the distance.	jules trying to hide her fashion faux pas trainer, sock combo.
fertavantura floating in a surreal sea of haze on the horizon like a mirage	the caldera	the last day and the last beach at papagayo and I discover a great long swim through. after a little time spent plucking up the courage it turned out to be easy peasy	suckers anyone? very tasty ockie, it's almost a shame to eat them :)
